Mr. Weaver,

We are using the Nelson-Denny reading assessment as a pre/post test for developmental reading. After implementing the use of the Weaver computer system we are seeing excellent results on both the low and high ends. During 2002-03 23% of our students either dropped or remained the same on the Nelson-Denny; however, with the use of Weaver system only 5% failed to show some improvement. The results on the high end were just as good. During 2002-03, 33% of our students showed increases of two grade levels or more, but with the Weaver system 58% were able to attain increases of two grade levels or more. Again these results are for only one semester and we will continue to monitor through the spring.
